چکیده

ith Radarsat-1 presently in operation and Radarsat-2 approved, Canada is starting to develop synthetic aperture radar (SAR) applications that require imagery on an operational schedule. Sea ice surveillance is now a proven near–real-time application, and new marine and coastal roles for SAR imagery are emerging. Although some image quality and calibration issues remain to be addressed, ship detection and coastal wind field retrieval are now in demonstration phases, with significant participation from the Canadian private sector. Operational Monitoring of Coastal and Marine Environment with Spaceborne Sar Systems: Where Are We Now and Where Are We Going

The 2 workshop on Coastal and Marine Applications of Synthetic Aperture Radar was held in Svalbard Norway on 8-12 September 2003. This conference was focused on providing an overview of the tools now available within the international community for utilizing synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems to characterize the marine environment. Applications were specifically focused on wind, waves, sea ...

Oil spill detection using in Sentinel-1 satellite images based on Deep learning concepts

Awareness of the marine area is very important for crisis management in the event of an accident. Oil spills are one of the main threats to the marine and coastal environments and seriously affect the marine ecosystem and cause political and environmental concerns because it seriously affects the fragile marine and coastal ecosystem. The rate of discharge of pollutants and its related effects o...

Coastal pollution hazards in southern California observed by SAR imagery: stormwater plumes, wastewater plumes, and natural hydrocarbon seeps.

Stormwater runoff plumes, municipal wastewater plumes, and natural hydrocarbon seeps are important pollution hazards for the heavily populated Southern California Bight (SCB). Due to their small size, dynamic and episodic nature, these hazards are difficult to sample adequately using traditional in situ oceanographic methods. Complex coastal circulation and persistent cloud cover can further co...

Coastal Observing Systems: the Role of Sar

he availability of cloudand light-independent synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data has for nearly a decade provided regular and global observation of ocean wave spectra. Furthermore, the radar’s capability to detect and locate oil spills, bathymetric features in shallow water, and ships has also led to systematic use of SAR images in operational surveillance associated with marine coastal pollut...

Feature Extraction And Classification Of Oil Spills In Sar Imagery

Synthetic Aperture RADAR (SAR) imaging system is used to monitor the marine system. Oil spill pollution plays a significant role in damaging marine ecosystem. One main advantages of SAR is that it can generate imagery under all weather conditions. In a SAR image dark spots can be generated by number of phenomena. The dark spots may be of algae, low wind areas, coastal areas and oil spills. The ...
